24/7 Crisis

The goal of the 24/7 Crisis Program is to assist youth and families in crisis. One of the program's primary aims is to provide support when a teenager runs away, threatens to leave home or feels hopeless about his or her family relationships. The program is highly successful at reuniting runaway and homeless youth (age 12- to 18-years-old) with their families.

Services

  • 24-hour crisis availability: counselors respond to crisis calls immediately and to non-crisis calls within 24 hours
  • Temporary shelter and food: shelters and host homes (screened by Department for Children and Families) provide food and short-term housing to runaway youth (usually less than 14 nights)
  • Individual and family counseling, mediation, case management, support services and referrals
  • Ongoing counseling
  • Positive activities that engage youth and build their sense of self-esteem and community

Youth Services refers clients and families to other community service providers as necessary. The agency's services to clients are further strengthened by the organization's collaborative relationships with local agencies, ranging from Department for Children and Families and Health Care and Rehabilitation Services to the Department of Employment and Training. Agency staff members also engage in youth advocacy at the local, state and federal level to help ensure young people's most basic needs are met.
