Court Diversion Board or Restorative Panel

Volunteering on a Court Diversion Board or Restorative Panel is a 2 hr. a month commitment during the day or evening, which is very manageable for most people. Youth Services’ Diversion Boards and Restorative Panels are made up of a cross-section of civic-minded community members who meet once a month with youth referred to our agency by the State’s Attorney Office after involvement in delinquency or criminal activity. It is a voluntary alternative to the court process and has been quite successful in reducing repeat offenses.

These boards and panels involve victims, offenders and community members in a constructive process that helps juvenile offenders make amends to victims and the community while taking responsibility for their unlawful actions. To find out more about volunteering to serve on a Diversion board, contact Youth Services at (802) 257-0361.
