Bigs/Parents/Teachers of “Littles” in Windham County reported that from 2008 to 2009:

  • 89% of “Littles” showed increase in self-confidence from 2008 to 2009
  • 72% of “Littles” showed improvement in academic performance from 2008 to 2009
  • 61% of “Littles” were more likely to avoid substance abuse from 2008 to 2009
  • 72% of “Littles” showed improvement in respect for other cultures from 2008 to 2009
  • 76% of “Littles” showed improvement in relationships with peers from 2008 to 2009
  • 70% of “Littles” showed improvement in class participation from 2008 to 2009
  • 80% of “Littles” howed improvement in expressing feelings from 2008 to 2009
  • 72% of “Littles” showed improvement in classroom behavior from 2008 to 2009
  • 72% of “Littles” showed improved sense of the future from 2008 to 2009
  • 61% of “Littles” showed improvement in use of school resources from 2008 to 2009
  • 65% of “Littles” showed improvement in attitude towards school from 2008 to 2009
  • 67% of “Littles” showed improvement in relationship with other adults from 2008 to 2009
  • 65% of “Littles” showed improvement in relationship with family from 2008 to 2009
  • 82% of “Littles” showed improvement in trust towards you from 2008 to 2009

“Making a Difference: Impact Study”  was a national study of Big Brothers Big Sisters completed in 1995 which demonstrated that:

  • 46% of “Littles” were less likely to begin using illegal drugs;
  • 27% of “Littles” were less likely to begin using alcohol;
  • 52% of “Littles” were less likely to skip school; and
  • more confident about their academic performance in school.
