Signs of Success

Many Bigs frequently ask, "How do I know the relationship is benefiting my Little?" It may be years before a former Little looks back and says, "Do you know who made a difference in my life? My Big… when I was in second grade."

Below are some signs of success that Bigs may notice in Littles as a result of their friendship. Teachers and parents notice these things too.

Remember the key… PATIENCE! Every relationship is different.

  • Raising a hand more often in class.
  • Increased communication.
  • Taking more risks in class and with friends.
  • Smiling.
  • Improved interactions with peers and family.
  • Increased consideration of others.
  • Decreased hostility.

  • Improved academic performance.
  • Happier at school.
  • Fewer detentions.
  • Fewer trips to the principal's office.
  • Paying more attention.
  • Opening up to his/her Big.
